You can use "Regular Mail" to mail a letter in an envelope. The postage is the current rate to Africa which is a 98 cent stamp.

There are also "Priority Mail Flat Rate Options". The best option is to use the priority mail flat rate envelope and put whatever you can fit into it up to 4 pounds for $13.45. Envelopes are available at the Post Office. Call or email us for information on the best way to package and tape the envelope.

To send by the Church's "Pouch Mail" system you can send a postcard (28 cent stamp) or fold a single sheet of paper into thirds (no enclosures, no envelopes), address and stamp (44 cent stamp) the outside, and close it with a piece of tape. Stamps are the current U.S. rate since it is mailed to the LDS Church and the Church sends it on to the missionaries. Or you can use www.dearelder.com - just type your letter and they will mail it for you for free since his mission uses the pouch mail system.
